The Rotary Club of Mokokchung held its 50th Installation Ceremony on July 29 at Rotary House, Mokokchung, marking the annual Change of Guard and officially inducting the office bearers for the Rotary year 2025–2026 under the theme “Unite for Good.”

Charter President and Installation Officer Rtn. M.B. Longkumer, who has been part of the club since its inception in 1977, marked his 50th year with the Rotary Club during the event. In his address, Longkumer reflected on the journey of the club and emphasized the spirit of service that unites its members. “This is how simple our devotion is—not for personal benefit, but to serve the people and the community,” he said.
He acknowledged Rtn. I. Temsu Jamir for his over 40 years of service in the club and lauded the commitment of all members who, despite coming from various walks of life and professional classifications, come together under the shared Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”
Looking ahead, Longkumer announced that the club will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2027, marking 50 years since its establishment. “We started in 1977 under one motto—Service Above Self—and we have come this far under that single banner,” he stated. He described the upcoming jubilee as a “golden opportunity” for all current office bearers and members to actively prepare and contribute towards making it a memorable milestone.
Speaking on the Rotary International theme for the current year, “Unite for Good,” Longkumer noted, “To speak ‘Unite for Good’ is simple, but translating it into action is not easy. However, under that banner, we begin our Rotary year with the leadership of our reinstalled President and his team.” He explained the decision to retain the same leadership team for another term, citing mutual understanding and the shared belief in one of Rotary’s guiding principles: “He Profits Most Who Serves Best.” He congratulated the outgoing team and extended his best wishes to the reinstalled team as they take on the responsibility of leading the club into its milestone year.

Rtn. Rongsentoshi Jamir was formally reinstalled as President of the Rotary Club of Mokokchung for the second consecutive year. In his President’s Address, he expressed gratitude to club members for continuing to place their trust in him. “The past Rotary year was quite a challenge for me, as I lacked experience as a Rotarian, but with the support and advice of members both in Mokokchung and outside, I tried my best,” he said. He acknowledged possible shortcomings and requested members to continue guiding him for the betterment of the club.
He urged members to unite and work together as the club approaches its 50th year, noting, “We may be small in number, but we are all hardworking. There is no reason we cannot improve on what the club has achieved over the last nearly five decades.” He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to its motto “Service Above Self,” stating that with faith in God and mutual support, the club could continue to inspire the community.
Earlier in the program, Rtn. I. Temsu Jamir, Vice-President, delivered the Welcome Address, where he recognized the lifelong contributions of Charter President M.B. Longkumer, calling him a “living legend” and stating that his legacy extends beyond the Rotary Club into broader civic life. He emphasized that leadership within Rotary is president-centric, with the president laying out plans and members supporting their implementation.
“People ask what we get from Rotary, but we join to give. There are many avenues to serve,” he said, encouraging attendees to learn and share during the installation program.
He also reminded prospective members that weekly meetings are held every Tuesday—at 5:00 PM during summer and 4:30 PM in winter and encouraged to join whoever wants to be a part of the social service.
Rtn. Maniraj Rai served as the Master of Ceremonies. The Club Report was presented by Rtn. Imlitemsu Jamir, Secretary, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Rtn. Tiarenla Jamir, Membership Chair. Lirosen from Eden Academy presented a special number. Interact Club from Eden Academy was also present during the program.
