Mokokchung, 3 October (MTNews): The Rotary Club of Mokokchung organized a ceremony on 3 October to recognize and honor five exceptional teachers with the Nation Builders Award 2023.
The event, held at the Rotary House in Mokokchung, was graced by the presence of Jonglemdong Longkumer, Senior Sub-divisional Education Officer, Mokokchung who served as the Guest of Honor.
Mr Jonglemdong Longkumer began his address with a poignant quote by Robert Green Ingersoll, stating, “One good schoolmaster is worth a thousand priests.” He emphasized the pivotal role of teachers as true nation builders, molding the future by shaping the lives of students.
Praising the Rotary Club of Mokokchung for their commendable efforts in recognizing and honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to society, Longkumer stressed that teachers deserved the highest honor as they stand alongside esteemed professions such as engineers and doctors in shaping the future. He added, “It is the teachers, with their love and absence of discrimination, who mold children and bring out their best.”
The Rotary Club of Mokokchung has been at the forefront of educational initiatives, including adult literacy, digital learning, sponsorship programs, and the prestigious Nation Builders Award.
This award, bestowed upon deserving teachers, is based on various criteria such as classroom practice, behavior, conduct with students, going beyond the call of duty, and punctuality.
The five exceptional teachers honored with the Nation Builders Award were:
S Imnajungshi Changkiri – Government High School, Mangkolemba
Tianaro Longkumer – Eden Academy
Limachawa – Merachiba Memorial Government High School, Merangkong
Opanglemla – Christian Residential Higher Secondary School
Merangnaro – Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba
The event also featured a performance by students from Eden Academy Mokokchung, who presented a song titled “Climb.” The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Rtn Rongsentoshi Jamir, representing the Rotary India Literacy Mission.
