Mokokchung, February 21 (MTNews): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) led by their president, Joel Naga, kick-started their campaign, “A Walk to Save Nagaland,” from Dimapur this morning. Talking to media persons at 7th Mile Junction, Dimapur, before setting off on the 1200 Km walk across Nagaland, Naga said that they were embarking on the 40-day walk with the vision to “build a new Nagaland” and to “bring change to Nagaland.” He said that about 30 members of the party along with support team will be starting off from Dimapur, who will be joined by others along the way. The walk, which started after a prayer, is to reach out to the grassroots, listen to their grievances, and understand local problems, the party president said. He also said that, although there are other political parties, “RPP is the only alternative party” in Nagaland. Another functionary of the RPP said, “as humans, we have no strength. We are a new party. We appeal to the people to understand why we are walking for 40 days. Please pray for us.” Meanwhile, the RPP president said that no political party in Nagaland has undertaken such a walk and said that they will “walk till the last. God willing, we will prevail.” He also said that they will halt for the night at Mhainamtsi in Peren.
