Mokokchung, 5 September (MTNews): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has lauded the Advisor of School Education for admitting that the department is in a “total mess.” The RPP noted that the Advisor, unlike many other leaders who made a habit of shoving ills under the rug, has set a note-worthy precedent which the party hopes will inspire other politicians to follow suit.
Standing by their observation that the School Education Department is the “worst managed and most corrupted” in the state, the RPP agreed with the Advisor’s statement that teacher recruitment cannot be done through NPSC or NSSB. In this regard, the RPP reiterated that the department set up a Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB), as was first mooted by the RPP in 2022.
The RPP also stressed that all interviews of potential teachers should be carried out by impaneled university professors and that under no circumstances should teachers’ recruitment be conducted like any other departmental recruitment.
Lastly, the RPP appealed to the Advisor to remove the post of Principal Director since “it serves no exceptional purpose other than to render the office of the directorate redundant.” According to the party, the post of PD has only made domain experts like the Director of the department a rubber stamp.
