The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has expressed deep concern over the recent deportation of Pastor John Roughton of the Spirit of Faith Church, Dimapur, who is also an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). According to the RPP, Pastor Roughton has lived and served in Nagaland for 28 years without any issues related to his residency or activities.
The RPP highlighted that Pastor Roughton has been “a deeply entrenched member of our community” and stated, “there has never been any indication that he posed a threat to the integrity of India nor was he in violation of any regulations as an OCI.” The party described his deportation to the United States as “both unfair and disheartening.”
The deportation, carried out by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in New Delhi, has reportedly caused distress among the Christian community in Nagaland. The RPP suggested that “perhaps the only line of conclusion is that Pastor Roughton was deported only because of his pastoral activities.”
In its press release, the RPP urged the Nagaland government to intervene swiftly with the relevant authorities, citing the contributions of Pastor Roughton and his wife, Mrs. Zhepitoli Zhimomi, to the Christian community over decades. The party emphasized, “This act of deportation by the FRRO is not only a grave oversight but also undermines the secular underpinnings of this country.”
The RPP also called for solidarity among the people of Nagaland, warning, “Today the Roughtons are facing the brunt of a majoritarian policy, tomorrow the same policy may cast a long shadow over the entire state.”
I’ve observed that in the world nowadays, video games would be the latest trend with kids of all ages. Often times it may be out of the question to drag your children away from the video games. If you want the best of both worlds, there are lots of educational gaming activities for kids. Thanks for your post.
