The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU), along with village leaders from four villages, held a joint meeting on April 17 at Old Monger Village to safeguard the ongoing road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase-III (PMGSY-III).

The meeting was attended by SASU officials, Head GBs, and Chairmen of Old Monger Village, New Monger Village, Yangzitong Village, and Seyochung Village. The primary agenda was the progress and protection of the vital road project connecting Seyochung Town via New Monger, Old Monger, and Seyochung Village.

Described as a long-awaited collective aspiration, the road is considered a lifeline for the Seyochung area, forming the main transportation route to the sub-divisional headquarters at Seyochung Town. After years of delays and difficulties, the project is finally underway.

To ensure its successful and uninterrupted completion, SASU and the participating villages unanimously adopted four resolutions: No individual shall claim any land compensation under PMGSY-III; All Naga Political Groups are requested not to impose any tax on the ongoing construction; No village will issue the completion certificate until SASU conducts a spot verification and gives clearance; Contractors must complete the road construction within the stipulated timeframe.

The union and the villages also resolved to take necessary action against any party or individual who violates the resolutions.
