The Satakha Sub-division launched the second phase of its tree plantation drive on Monday, June 16, 2025, as part of an ongoing initiative to promote environmental awareness and beautify the region. The sapling distribution ceremony was held at the residence of Minister G Kaito Aye, Minister of Roads and Bridges, Government of Nagaland.
As part of this phase, 1,500 saplings were distributed for plantation across seven villages—Ghukiye, Nikuto, Xukhepu, Zungti, Kulhopu, Shoipu, and Nunumi—as well as Satakha Town and the adjoining stretches of National Highway 702A. The saplings were sponsored by Minister Aye, continuing his commitment to green development in his constituency.
The event was attended by representatives from the Satakha Town Council, local councillors, Gaon Buras (GBs), and council members from the participating villages. Speaking at the event, Satakha Town Council councillor Kiyeto Zhimo expressed appreciation for the Minister’s continued support, stating, “We are grateful to Minister G Kaito Aye for sponsoring the 1,500 saplings and prioritizing environmental conservation in our area.”
Vishiho Zhimo, GB chairman of the Langki Kiliki Tokukukujo (LKT) Joint Council, also thanked the Minister, noting that the saplings will be planted along all approach roads in the villages, Satakha Town, and nearby areas of NH-702A.
The tree plantation drive builds on efforts already made during World Environment Day on June 5, when Satakha and other parts of Zunheboto District held plantation activities along the highway. In the first phase of the initiative, 1,600 saplings had been distributed by Minister Aye to 16 villages and individuals across the constituency.
