A scuffle involving students of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) broke out on September 5, 2024, at Mokokchung town’s park following the Teacher’s Day celebration. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
According to police officials, the altercation erupted between Class 8 and Class 9 students due to an existing animosity between two individuals. The situation escalated as both students called in their friends, resulting in a group fight.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, and no one required hospitalization. The police have identified 10 students involved in the scuffle. Both the students and their parents are expected to appear at the police lockup on Tuesday, where they will be required to sign a good behavior bond.
In response to the incident, QMHSS has reportedly suspended the involved students for a period of 15 days.
