The State Election Commission (SEC) has reportedly directed the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to initiate an investigation into allegations made by the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) against Tovihoto Ayemi, BJP MLA and Advisor of the Department of Tribal Affairs and Election.
The NPCC had lodged a formal complaint with the SEC, accusing Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi of enticing Kanili Kinilimi, an Indian National Congress candidate for the upcoming Urban Local Body election in Ward 7 of Dimapur. The complaint alleges that Ayemi promised Kinilimi a nominated seat on the Dimapur Municipal Council in exchange for withdrawing her candidature from the ULB elections.
Yanger, the NPCC Media Chairman, confirmed that the SEC had responded to their complaint by issuing a notice to the DC Dimapur to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
“Our legal team met with the SEC officials during the filing of the complaint and I was told they were assured of legal actions,” Yanger stated.
