In an operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Kohima police, a large cache of arms and ammunition being transported to Manipur was seized from a passenger vehicle passing through Nagaland. The joint operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, aimed to thwart attempts to smuggle weapons, explosives, and war-like stores into conflict-hit Manipur.

Acting on the information, the security forces launched the operation in the early hours of the morning, closely monitoring a passenger vehicle suspected of transporting the illicit items. At approximately 6 am, the joint team conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of two pistols along with four magazines, a substantial amount of ammunition, explosives, and other war-like stores.

Authorities believe that the successful operation prevented a major incident that may have targeted security forces and government agencies operating in Manipur.

Meanwhile, an active cadre of the Myanmar-based NSCN-K (Yung Aung) surrendered in Nagaland’s Mon district. The Assam Rifles facilitated the surrender of the individual who had been involved with the rebel group since 2012. The surrendered cadre was known to be engaged in various extortion-related activities within the Area of Responsibility (AOR). Over the past year, a total of 13 cadres from different factions have voluntarily surrendered.
