The Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill 2025 was celebrated at the Heritage Village, Kisama, on 25th February, with Er. Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, as the host.

Speaking at the event, Er. Vitsu described Sekrenyi as a festival of cleansing, purification, and rededication, marking a time to seek blessings for the year ahead. He highlighted its cultural significance and how each village celebrates it uniquely. He noted that his native village, Viswema, traditionally observes Sekrenyi in December. However, acknowledging the wisdom of the elders, all Angami villages now celebrate it together on 25th February. He urged the youth to safeguard their cultural heritage as a symbol of identity.
Er. Vitsu also emphasized the importance of Sekrenyi being part of the Mini Hornbill Festival, allowing Naga traditions to be showcased to the world. He encouraged people to be hospitable and warmly welcome tourists.
The event featured prayers by Rev. Fr. Dr. George Pezalhukho Rino, a welcome address by APO General Secretary Keneilesa Neikha, and Phichu Ja (blessings from elders) by Kruvil Kikhi. The program included folk songs, traditional horn blowing, and cultural exhibitions featuring war cry, tati pfe, phrida, fire-making, and tholi.
