Two matches of the Senior Men’s Inter District Cricket Tournament Qualifiers were played in Tseminyu on March 16, with Mon and Tseminyu registering victories in their respective fixtures.
At Ziphenyu Ground, Mon defeated Kiphire by seven wickets after a disciplined bowling display. After winning the toss and opting to field, Mon restricted Kiphire to 109 in 19.3 overs. Sani Das led the resistance with a quick 45 off 24 balls. Stephen Patton took 3 for 28 while Mom8n supported with 2 for 21. Mon chased the target comfortably, reaching 112 for 3 in 15.3 overs. Lanpang P Konyak anchored the innings with an unbeaten 51 off 31 balls and was named Player of the Match.
In the other qualifier at RSA Ground, Tseminyu edged past Phek by three wickets in a closely contested match. Phek posted 137 for 3 in 20 overs, with Thepuvet scoring an unbeaten 40 off 16 balls. Prinal Deb claimed 2 for 17 for Tseminyu. In reply, Tseminyu reached 141 for 7 in 16.3 overs, with Sinilo Kent scoring an unbeaten 42 off 36 balls to guide the chase and earn the Player of the Match award.
The Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament Qualifiers 2026, hosted by the Tseminyu District Cricket Association, began on Monday with eight districts competing across two groups. Only two teams will qualify.
Group A – Tseminyu, Peren, Longleng, Phek
Group B – Mon, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Kiphire
