East Zone beat North East Zone by nine wickets; South Zone overpower Central Zone by 44 runs
Rain and spirited performances defined the day’s action in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2025, as East Zone secured a commanding nine-wicket win over North East Zone in a rain-shortened match, while South Zone defeated Central Zone by 44 runs in another fixture at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
At the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, East Zone displayed complete control in their seven-over contest. After being asked to field, East Zone restricted North East Zone to 42 for 4, thanks to a superb spell by Sushree Dibyadarshini, who claimed 3 wickets for 10 runs in 2 overs. Nabam Yapu provided the only notable resistance with a quick 22 off 15 balls for North East Zone.
In reply, East Zone chased down the target in just three overs. Ashwani led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 36 off 11 balls, earning her the Player of the Match award. The win reflected East Zone’s all-round strength and moved them up in the standings despite the truncated format.
In another match held earlier at the same venue, South Zone defeated Central Zone by 44 runs after posting a solid total of 135 for 8 in 20 overs. S Meghana anchored the innings with a composed 42 off 31 balls, while Niki Prasad added 38. Central Zone’s Vaishnavi Sharma picked up 3 for 28, but South Zone’s disciplined bowling sealed the game as Central Zone were restricted to 91 for 9.
Mona top-scored for Central Zone with 37, while South Zone’s spinners, led by Sahana S Pawar (2 for 14) and C Prathyusha (2 for 16), maintained tight control. Meghana was named Player of the Match for her crucial contribution.
The tournament continues on November 8 with East Zone facing North Zone and South Zone taking on West Zone at Sovima.
