Kohima, 28 March (MTNews): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during his budget speech on Monday proposed to allow sale of liquor to foreign nationals coming to the State which, according to him, is permitted within the ambit of Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989, by certain hotels of certain category.

He observed that there is a pressing need to mobilize more resources to meet the increasing developmental needs.

“Our state will be hosting a large number of foreign delegates for the G-20 Business Meet from 4th to 6th April this year in Kohima,” he informed, and pointed out that serving of liquor to foreign delegates and their associates is allowed under the provision of the NLTP act.

“Such sale of liquor to foreigners and their associates is needed to give further push to tourism,” he added.
