Kohima, February 3 (MTNews): Following the release of the official NDPP candidates for the upcoming general elections to the NLA yesterday, six more MLAs from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) have resigned from membership of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly today.

They are Dr Chotisuh Sazo (18 Chozuba), Er Zale Neikha (15 Southern Angami-II), Yitachu (20 Meluri), Keneizhakho Nakhro (8 Western Angami), Azheto Zhimomi (3 Dimapur-III), YM Yollow Konyak (42 Wakching), and Thongwang Konyak (46 Mon Town).

The Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly has accepted the resignations with effect from forenoon today, and has declared the respective six Assembly Constituency seats as vacant.

Interestingly, six of the seven NDPP MLAs who resigned today were members of the 21 NPF MLAs who jumped ship last year while Zale Neikha was denied the party ticket after his constituency was given to BJP on account of the NDPP-BJP seat sharing deal. Meanwhile Thongwang Konyak joined JD(U).
