Nagaland is among the northeastern states benefiting from the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) scheme, under which several development projects have been sanctioned across the region.

The PM-DevINE scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2022-23 and later approved by the Union Cabinet with an outlay of Rs 6,600 crore for a four-year period from 2022-23 to 2025-26.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, a total of 48 projects worth Rs 6,044.36 crore have been sanctioned across the Northeast under the scheme as of February 28, 2026.

In Nagaland, seven projects worth Rs 552.83 crore have been sanctioned under the initiative.

Across the region, Arunachal Pradesh has been sanctioned three projects worth Rs 433.54 crore, while Assam has received four projects valued at Rs 1,402.50 crore. Manipur and Meghalaya have each been sanctioned seven projects worth Rs 561 crore and Rs 773.90 crore respectively.

Mizoram has been allotted two projects worth Rs 595.25 crore, while Tripura has received four projects worth Rs 561 crore. Sikkim has been sanctioned five projects worth Rs 561.11 crore under the scheme.

In addition, nine projects worth Rs 603.23 crore have been sanctioned for implementation by central and other agencies.

The ministry said the projects are proposed and implemented by the concerned state governments or agencies based on local needs and identified development gaps. The projects cover several sectors including connectivity, power and social development.

So far, three projects worth Rs 176.11 crore have been completed under the scheme in the social and livelihood sectors. Of these, two projects worth Rs 121.21 crore have been completed in Sikkim, while one project worth Rs 54.9 crore has been completed by a central or other implementing agency. No projects have yet been completed in the other northeastern states, including Nagaland.

The ministry added that continuation of the scheme beyond the current financial cycle will be examined and decided in accordance with the prescribed guidelines for appraisal and approval of government schemes.
