In a significant political development, at least seven senior leaders from various political parties and NGOs in Nagaland have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The formal induction took place at the BJP’s National Headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh and BJP National Secretary and Nagaland Prabhari Anil K Antony.

The delegation from Nagaland was led by State BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi. The BJP Nagaland media cell, in a statement, said that the induction of the new members “marks a pivotal step in expanding the BJP’s outreach in the Northeast and reaffirming the party’s commitment to the progress and aspirations of the people of Nagaland.”

The new entrants include former minister Doshehe Yepthomi (Atoizu A/C), former MLA Khekaho Assumi (Akuluto A/C), retired DIG Richard Yimto (Shamator District), former Sumi Hoho and Nagaland Tribal Council president Toniho Yepthomi (Zunheboto District), former ENPO president Tsapikiu Sangtam (Kiphire-Pungro A/C), Wangka Konyak (Aboi A/C), who previously contested as an RPI candidate and served as Nagaland Congress State Secretary, and senior leader Toshi Walling, an ex-candidate, Dimapur Municipal Council.

The delegation is also scheduled to meet BJP National President JP Nadda tomorrow at the party headquarters.
