The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has appealed to the District Education Officer (DEO) of Kiphire to revoke the transfer order of Shri Ravindra Pratap Singh, Graduate Teacher (Mathematics), from Government High School (GHS) Seyochung to Government Middle School (GMS) Kiphire Village.

In a representation addressed to the DEO, the Union expressed “deep concern” over the transfer order issued by the Government of Nagaland through Notification No. DSE/GT-REQ/NPSC/2023/303, dated October 29, 2025.

The SVSU pointed out that Ravindra Pratap Singh is the only Mathematics teacher at GHS Seyochung, and that the school has long been facing an acute shortage of teachers, particularly in the subjects of Mathematics and Science. “If he is transferred, the students will be left without a Maths teacher, and their education will be badly affected,” the Union stated.

The students’ body further mentioned that it has raised the issue multiple times in the past through letters and news reports, requesting that additional teachers be appointed at GHS Seyochung.
“Instead of appointing additional teacher(s), the department is transferring the only existing Maths teacher, which is very discouraging,” the Union remarked.

Highlighting the timing of the transfer, the SVSU noted that the annual examinations are only a month or two away, and termed the decision “disgraceful and disheartening,” saying that such actions deprive students of necessary guidance during a crucial period.

The Union has earnestly requested the DEO’s office to revoke the transfer order and allow Shri Ravindra Pratap Singh to continue serving at GHS Seyochung until a qualified replacement is posted.

The appeal was signed by Longtili C Sangtam, President, and Tsise, General Secretary of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union.
