The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) visited the Health and Wellness Centre in Seyochung Village on 25 February to discuss the challenges faced by the centre with the Community Health Officer.

During the discussion, the officer highlighted several issues, including the delay in the completion of the labour room and toilet extension. Despite being scheduled for completion, the construction has not yet started. Another concern is the ongoing shortage of medicines. While the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office provides supplies, the stock is insufficient to meet the needs of the patients.

The officer also shared that five neighboring villages occasionally depend on the centre, though they do not visit regularly. When they do, the centre struggles to provide adequate medical care due to limited resources.

Additionally, the absence of a sweeper has been affecting cleanliness and hygiene at the centre. With no one assigned to maintain cleanliness, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult.

The centre also faces a shortage of healthcare staff. The officer emphasized that having only one Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) is insufficient for a large village like Seyochung. At least two ANMs are needed to ensure the centre can function smoothly.

In response to the concerns, SVSU President Longtili C Sangtam assured that the union would extend all possible support and urge the relevant authorities to address these issues promptly.

The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) also expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the ADC Seyochung HQ for their swift response and prompt action. Their dedication and efficiency in addressing the community’s concerns were highly praised.
