The Vice President of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), Longtili C Sangtam, met with Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT, today at the advisor’s residence. The meeting focused on the pressing issue of the shortage of teaching staff at the high school in Seyochung Village, the SVSU said in a press release.

During the discussion, Dr Yhome assured that a major exercise would soon be undertaken to address the shortage, and efforts to appoint additional teaching staff would be made as soon as possible. However, he emphasized that transfers or reshuffling of teachers would not be feasible in the middle of the academic year due to the potential disruption to students’ learning.

Additionally, Dr. Yhome highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining school property. He urged that the assets of schools should be properly utilized and cared for by the community to enhance education in the area.

The Seyochung Village Students’ Union expressed gratitude for the advisor’s prompt response and assured their cooperation in ensuring the effective management of the school.
