The first-ever one-day free chess coaching camp was organised by the Shamator District Chess Association under the theme ”Sharpening Minds, Rising Together.” The camp aimed to develop chess skills, critical thinking, and sportsmanship among the participants. It was held on September 13, 2025, at Government Middle School (GMS) A, Shamator.
Bodi Kapfo, SDO (Civil), and Kudazo Swuro, EAC Shamator, urged the children to approach chess not merely as a pastime but as a discipline that reflects life’s challenges. They also encouraged the students to cultivate memory and strategic thinking skills. A total of 40 enthusiastic students participated in the event.
Five coaches and trainers conducted the sessions, teaching the basics of the game. They were Bodi Kapfo, SDO (Civil) Shamator; Kudazo Swuro; Throngho, L/Naik; Yanluba, N.P.; and Viqheqhe, N/P. Refreshments were provided by T. Shitopong, Primary Teacher of GMS-A, along with his colleagues.
