The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), in collaboration with Government High School Seyochung Village, organized a cleanliness drive at Singtra Valley on April 16, 2025.

Students from the school actively participated by picking up plastic and other waste materials from the valley. All collected waste was properly disposed of at a designated location.

After the drive, a short program was held. SVSU President Longtili C Sangtam thanked the students and school authorities for their support and participation. He also delivered a brief awareness speech on the harmful effects of plastic on the environment.

During the program, the President officially declared Singtra Valley a Plastic-Free Zone. He announced a ban on single-use plastics such as straws, plastic plates, cups, carry bags, and water bottles. People are encouraged to use alternatives like cloth or jute bags, paper straws, and reusable containers and bottles.

To support this initiative, the union will install separate bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, promote composting of organic waste, and display posters encouraging the use of plastic-free alternatives. The union also requested all visitors to cooperate in maintaining Singtra Valley as a clean and plastic-free place.

The President especially thanked Khumkise Sangtam, Youth Pastor of Seyochung Village Baptist Church, for joining the drive, along with former SVSU President Longlumse L. and former Library Secretary Threjong. Longlumse L. also appreciated the initiative and encouraged the students to reduce plastic use in daily life.
