Kohima, 11 April (MTNews): State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) held an introductory meeting with Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development and SIRD on 11 April at SIRD Computer Lab, Kohima.
A brief presentation of the activities and programs of SIRD was presented by Principal, ETC Phek, Dr Kedise Pucho; Senior Lecturer, SIRD, Dr Juthsutho Phoji and Senior Lecturer, SIRD and Dr Adino Vitso respectively.
Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, while addressing the officers of SIRD congratulated them for their achievements in recent years and said that he was impressed with the professional approach of the officers of the department while carrying out the various programs and activities assigned to the department.
He further stressed on the need to restructure and streamline the activities of SIRD and Department of Rural Development so that the two departments complement each other and work hand in hand towards a common goal.
He also said that SIRD must expand their activities through assimilation and diversification of more programs of the Department of Rural Development and also encouraged the department to enhance their media and printing facilities so as to facilitate the increasing need for publications and training materials. He concluded by saying that the department should also take up activities to sensitize the public regarding the activities of the department.
The program was chaired by Director SIRD, Vesato while the concluding remark was pronounced by Addl. Director, SIRD, Imlimenla Longkumer.
