The four Youth Associations of Penli, Majakong, Lijaba Lijen, and Artang wards have informed on Tuesday that they will implement indefinite “total vehicular bandh” on the Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) road from Police Point and the approach road to IMDH from Sewak Gate starting December 2 after their six-day ultimatum to repair the said road expired today.

This was informed in a press conference called by the youth associations at Majakong Ward Community Hall today.

 

During the press conference, the Associations said that it had in its ultimatum served to the “higher authority” through the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung on November 24 announced that they would block the road if there was no positive response within six days. The Associations added that due to no response from the “concerned authority” till date, it was unanimously resolved to block the said stretch of roads leading to the IMDH.

 

The Associations declared that the “Total Vehicular Bandh” would be imposed indefinitely from December 2. The blockade will be from 6 AM to 6 PM, with only emergency cases being exempted, they said.

 

The Association also stated that the matter of restoring the IMDH road is for the benefit of all the people of Mokokchung, and thus urged citizens and organizations to support and join the cause.
