Sümi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK) organized a felicitation program for Sümis who successfully cleared competitive examinations at Western Hoho Ki, Chekiye Village, on November 23, 2024. Exhorting the gathering on the occasion, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary for Law & Justice, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, congratulated the successful candidates and reminded them that this is just the beginning of their new lives. He encouraged them to accept the ups and downs that will come in their careers ahead.
Kikheto shared his experience of joining the service at an early age and, during his 37 years of service, being posted in nearly 10 different departments, working with many senior and efficient officers. He stated that his peers often tag him as a workaholic, but while admitting to the adage “to err is human,” he never claimed to be a perfect officer. However, he expressed pride in contributing to the welfare and well-being of society.
Citing a few achievements, Sema mentioned that he was instrumental in identifying bogus GPF and pensions, pioneered the Communitization of Public Institutions, served as an officer assisting during the visits of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Finance Commissions, and was in charge during the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions. He was also a core member of the 16th Finance Commission recently. Additionally, he played a key role in initiating PIMS for government employees, reviving, promoting, and exporting Nagaland Coffee, promoting organic products under Naturally Nagaland & Organic A.C Market, Air Cargo, and as Convenor of the CM Micro Finance Initiative.
He also highlighted his contributions as a core member and frontline leader during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his role in introducing CMHIS, the 10-bedded ICU, the Medical College, and the introduction of royalty for timbers and betel nuts passing through the state but not originating from it. He expressed his appreciation to the State Government, which awarded him the Governor’s Commendation twice in recognition of his contributions to the people.
Sema advised that, regardless of one’s profession, one should be sincere in discharging the duty assigned. He advocated for equality among all ranks and files, irrespective of position, and emphasized that one should contribute, perform, and deliver sincerely. He urged the newly recruited candidates to be sincere and reminded them that the government is instituted by God and must be respected, honored, and obeyed.
Gihuka K Zhimo, President of SKK, delivered the presidential speech, while Shri Vinoh Swu Assumi, EAC, spoke on behalf of the successful candidates. Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, Executive Secretary of WSBAK, invoked God’s blessing.
