The Sub-Divisional Officer (Electrical) Longleng, Moichung Shembu Phom, has informed citizens and electricity consumers of Longleng Town that the installation of smart meters is being carried out in the district headquarters under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
According to the circular, the initiative is part of the power sector digitalisation programme aimed at improving transparency, billing accuracy, energy management and the overall efficiency of electricity services.
The SDO stated that, in accordance with official directives, all electricity supply must be managed through properly functioning meters. The installation process is being carried out only through authorised agencies and officials.
Consumers have been requested to extend cooperation to installation personnel during the ongoing work.
The public has also been advised not to spread or circulate misleading information regarding smart meters. The circular stated that unverified or false information could create unnecessary confusion and fear among the public.
For clarification or official information, consumers have been asked to contact the office of the SDO, Electrical Sub-Division, Longleng, or authorised ANVIL officials only.
