In a joint public statement, the three organizations urged citizens to participate in the rally as a mark of respect, unity, and collective mourning. They emphasized the importance of standing together in grief and in the pursuit of justice and accountability for the victims and their families.

As part of the observance, all business establishments, educational institutions, schools, and colleges across Longleng district will remain closed during the duration of the rally. This closure serves as a gesture of solidarity and respect for the bereaved families.

The PPC, PH, and PSC have appealed to all community members and students from Class IX and above to participate peacefully and cooperate fully to ensure a dignified and orderly conduct of the programme.

“This is a time for us to come together as one community,” the statement read, “to express our collective grief and unity as we seek justice for the departed souls.”

Meanwhile, according to a report by Eastern Mirror, the investigation into the hit-and-run case that claimed the lives of two individuals from Aoching village in Longleng district has yet to result in any arrests or the recovery of the vehicle involved.

Superintendent of Police, Longleng, Yanger Jamir, informed that the investigation officially commenced on the morning of October 26, as officers were unable to begin inquiries the previous day due to public unrest that erupted following the incident.

Jamir stated that no arrests have been made so far, citing the absence of eyewitnesses, and added that on October 25, police personnel were primarily occupied with containing an angry mob at the scene.
