Jewelry is that one little thing that always gives you a sense of individuality and self-awareness. It’s all about taking what is popular at the time and molding, as your personality gets enhanced in a perfect way. Whether you are buying fashion jewelry for gifting, or for own wearing purpose, you will be particularly smitten by the treasure trove of handmade jewelry pieces available @collegiums_craft (instagram).

Hailing from Longsa village, Tiasola Longkumer, a resident of Artang ward, Mokokchung, is a self-made fashion jewelry designer, whose fascination with the jewelry she once bought, inspired her to finding a niche in fashion jewelry designing. Her designs ranges from intricately created earings to stylish bracelets and chic neck pieces.

During the initial days of creating her own designs, she realized how ideas naturally ran within her and how she could successfully create her crafts without any assistance. And today, her crafts are known for having a pleasant, positive and artful appearance.

Talking to Mokokchung Times, she explained that it was challenging to create something that enraptured the passions of people who loved exclusive fashion jewelry pieces, because creating something unique involved a lot of research and creativity.

“Searching for beads that will fit in my designs consumes a lot of time. I do buy the beads from local vendors but usually I get it from various shopping sites which involve a lot of searching,” she said.

Apart from investing her time in searching for beads, she says that her work has never been hectic, although demanding. “I do get busy but I can manage it just fine. Good thing is, I have a family that is way too supportive,” she disclosed.

Aso, apart from jewelry designing, also employs her skills in making mask holders and hair clips, which had a remarkable sale during the pandemic.

She also added that the ‘compliments and appreciations’ that she receives from her clients, frequently, serves as her main motivation to improve her craftsmanship.

Encouraging more young people to become more enthusiastic towards entrepreneurship, she said that hard work and holding on to one’s faith is the key towards success. “There are hard times such as, not getting to sell a single item for days and you begin to feel like your hard work isn’t worth it, but it is not so. Hard work always matters at the end,” she concluded.
