Mokokchung, August 12 (MTNews):As part of the nation wide Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the ST Morcha of the BJP Mokokchung district held a ‘Swaach Bharat Abhiyan’ (cleanliness drive) on August 12 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.
The cleanliness drive was led by ST Morcha, BJP Mokokchung President Oyimpong Longchar, and Vice-President Lanuchiba Aier, stated a press release from the party.
Apart from the ST Morchakaryakartas, karyakartas from the Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha of 25 Mongoya Mandal participated in the cleanliness drive. In addition to participating in the cleanliness drive, the Minority Morcha provided refreshments to all those who participated in the social work.
At the BJP Office in Mokokchung, earlier in the day, the ST Morcha performed the national song, “Vande Mataram,” as a tribute to the nation, the freedom fighters, and national leaders, the press release added.
“The actions performed today were a part of a sequence that would be taken over the following several days till August 15. Additionally, the ST Morcha will present the Tiranga (the national flag) to deserving older persons and hoist it in each home,” it further read.
The ST President, Oyimpong Longchar, extended his sincere gratitude to all the karyakartas, especially those from the Mahila Morcha, the Yuva Morcha of 25 Mongoya Mandal, and Minority Morcha for their support in making the programs a grand success, it was reported.
