Sanis, 11 April (MTNews): In a Campaign Rally held today in Sanis, Wokha, S Supongmeren Jamir, INC and INDIA Consensus Candidate for the 18th Lok Sabha Polls from Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, stated that he is standing against all odds for the cause of secularism and raised caution about the imminent imposition of Uniform Civil Code if the BJP is voted back to power, a press release issued by the NPCC Communication Department said. He also reasserted his unwavering commitment towards the protection of the Naga way of life, it added.


President of Sanis unit of LJP,  Chenithung Jami, in his address stressed upon the consequences that the verdict of the upcoming poll will have on the rights of the common people of India, especially for those belonging to the minority communities, and expressed confidence in the collective intelligence of the people of Nagaland to rise above narrow socio-economic considerations this time and vote for change.

Capt GK Zhimomi, Vice President of NPCC, rued the conspicuous silence of the legislators of Nagaland on the Manipur violence, opining that the BJP and the NDPP are essentially two sides of the same coin. He cited the absence of the NDPP Manifesto to buttress his assertion.

Former INC candidate from Bhandari, Chenithung Humtsoe, exhorted the gathering to exercise their franchise in favor of secularism and warned about the collective peril of getting influenced and voting along tribal identities.

Meshenlo Kath, Co Chair of the Public Grievances Department of NPCC, and former Congress candidate of Kohima Town Assembly Constituency also spoke on the occasion. He emphasized the importance of holding the government to account to ensure effective and responsible governance.

President of NSUI Nagaland, Chophika Sumi, presented a scathing performance report of the central BJP government, stating that the Modi government has the dubious reputation of renaming the schemes and policies of the previous Congress government and shamelessly rebranding it as its own.
