The Chief Minister also stated that the government would provide a one-time grant to ULBs to establish designated office buildings and workplaces. CM Rio further encouraged ULBs to focus on developing revenue-generating assets, as revenue from taxes is limited in the state due to certain local conditions.

Rio emphasized that with privileges come responsibilities and urged councilors to work towards creating vibrant and prosperous urban centers where every citizen feels valued and has opportunities to thrive. He suggested that ULBs should compete with one another and strive for excellence.

The Chief Minister congratulated all the elected councilors and thanked Civil Society Organizations, Tribal Hohos, and NGOs for ensuring a peaceful and successful conduct of the ULB Elections 2024. He underscored that ULBs are the backbone of local governance and are crucial in addressing everyday needs and concerns. Rio further stated that ULBs should focus on grassroots democracy and community development, taking necessary steps to improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, also spoke at the program, briefly highlighting the long and challenging journey the state has undergone to ensure the successful conduct of the ULB elections. He elaborated on the roles and duties of the elected councilors and their significant role in urban development.
