Mokokchung, February 2 (MTNews):
A State Handloom Expo organized by Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., Dimapur, was inaugurated at Multi Sports Hall, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Shahshank Pratap Singh (IAS) today.
The Expo is being held from February 2 to 15 and is being sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.
A total of 60 participants from various states i.e. Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and the host Nagaland is taking part in exhibiting Handloom products.
Shahshank Pratap Singh asserted, “Though entry remains free for all, strict SOPs should be in place, visitors must first produce Covid vaccinated certificate or recently taken Negative Covid test report to experience the rich handloom culture and products.”
The Expo is part of the 5/6 events conducted every year by the department to help promote mothers, by giving them a platform to sell their handlooms. The stalls are offered free of cost and lumpsum daily allowances are provided to all exhibitors, an official said. The Expo will be open to the public from 10 AM- 4:00 PM.
