Kohima, 27 April (MTNews): Following the Planning & Transformation Department’s 29 November 2021 Notification, the Government of Nagaland has re-constituted the “State Land Acquisition Authority” with the Chief Minister as its Chairman and Principal Secretary & Commissioner as Member Secretary.

 

The State Land Acquisition Authority shall examine all proposals for land acquisition including compensation for buildings standing in the land to be acquired for the purpose of developmental projects or for public amenities or works of public benefit.

 

The authority will also decide on the area of land required to be acquired and allotted to various departments and agencies for developmental & public utilities and approve land compensation rates for various categories of land proposed to be acquired.

 

The authority shall also determine additional areas of land to be acquired for use for future developmental projects and review the utilization or otherwise of land acquired and allotted to various departments and agencies which have remained unutilized for more than 3(three) years and decide on their cancellation or extension if found warranted.

 

The authority shall also direct enforcement of Building By-Laws and directions for construction of Government Directorates and offices/establishments particularly in the New Capital Complex Area.

 

They are to effect eviction of encroachers of Government land within the State and to direct preparation of Master Plans for District Headquarters, Administrative Headquarters and strict adherence to the Master Plans proposed by all concerned.

 

The final approval of the proposals covered under item No. 17 of Second Schedule of Rules of Executive Business, 2020 as decided by the Cabinet in its meeting held on 26th October, 2021 shall be made by the authority. The jurisdiction of the State Land Acquisition Authority shall extend to the whole State and also cover land and buildings required to be acquired by the State even outside the State.

 

The other members of the State Land Acquisition Authority are: Deputy Chief Minister, Planning & Transformation and National Highway; Deputy Chief Minister, Home & Border Affairs; Minister, Housing & Mechanical; Advisors of Land Revenue, Agriculture, Transport, Urban Development, and Geology & Mining; Director General of Police; Principal Secretaries of Urban Development, Power, and PHED; Commissioner, Nagaland; Commissioner & Secretary, Land Revenue; Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing; Secretary, Law & Justice; Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD; Chief Engineer, PWD (Housing); Chief Engineer, Power (T&G); Chief Engineer, PHED; Director, Urban Development; and Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
