A painting competition was held in Kohima as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, organised by the Department of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the District Administration and District Education Office. Josinlo Kemp of Bayavü Higher Secondary School won first place, while Nisuka from the same school and Watlong Wangha of GHSS Jotsoma secured second and third positions respectively.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Lerao of GHS Midland, Bupenmongko Chang of GHS Bayavü, and Chekehie Akami of GHSS Jotsoma. Winners received citations and cash prizes, while all participants were given certificates of appreciation.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, commended the students’ talent and advised them to overcome distractions from mobile phones and social media. Joint Secretary for Tribal Affairs, T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir, urged students to take inspiration from Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy. The programme was chaired by EAC Kohima, Khriethozo.
