Kohima, 24 November (MTNews): A state-level tribal painting competition among tribal students was held on the occasion of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas 2023 at the DUDA Conference Hall in Kohima on 24 November 2023.


The program was organized by the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Nagaland, under the Tribal Affairs Department, and was funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Joint Secretary of Tribal Affairs, Hito Sema, NCS, delivered the keynote address and also presented prizes to the winners.
Shilula T from Govt. Hr. Sec. School Thangjam Tuensang secured the first position, while Anguvika Kinimi from Canaan Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung, and Ruyivelu Phesao from Christian Mission Hr. Sec. School Diphupar, Chumoukedima, secured the second and third positions, respectively.
In total, 13 schools from different districts participated in the competition. The judges for the competition were Temjen Aier, Artist; Andy Sekhose, Art Curator from Art & Culture; and Neivotuo Kelyho, Art Executive from the Art & Culture Department.
As part of the event, the participants also visited the State Museum and WWII Cemetery in Kohima for sightseeing, led by Dr Meyisangla, Joint Director, Tribal Affairs, Nagaland.
