Delivering his maiden address during the Eighth Session of the Fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly at the NLA Hall, Kohima, the Governor said the Chief Minister, along with Cabinet colleagues and members of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) Sub-Committee, recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to press for the move.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to a peaceful settlement of the Naga Political Issue, he informed the House that the PAC—comprising Ministers, elected tribal representatives, political party leaders and Members of Parliament from the State – has been actively reviewing developments. A Sub-Committee has also been constituted to streamline efforts.

He described the agreement as a significant step toward ensuring equitable and inclusive development in Eastern Nagaland, adding that the State Government is working to constitute an Interim Council and will move for special legislation for its formal establishment.
