Mokokchung’s Stereo Groove delivered a standout performance at this year’s Zoommax Band Competition, earning top honors at the event held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, Kohima on March 28. The indie rock group’s ‘cohesive musicianship and polished songwriting’ clearly resonated with both judges and audience members, setting them apart from the eleven other competing acts, an update received here from the band stated.

The band’s success was further highlighted by individual recognitions, with drummer Limanuksung receiving the Best Drummer award and bassist Wabang being named Best Bassist. These accolades highlight the technical proficiency that forms the foundation of Stereo Groove’s sound.
Capitalizing on their competition success, the quartet released their new single “Be Saved” immediately following their victory. The track showcases their signature blend of melodic sensibility and tasteful instrumental work, offering listeners an accessible yet substantive musical experience.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our music at Zoommax,” commented Lanu, the vocalist. “The positive response encourages us to continue developing our craft.”
Stereo Groove’s approach demonstrated that thoughtful musicianship and quality songwriting still find appreciation in today’s competitive music scene. Their Zoommax achievement and new single release position them as artists worth watching in the indie rock scene.
“Be Saved” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
