Kohima, November 29 (MTNews): A team of Agriculture, Fishery and Aquatic Resources and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department officials headed by Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Nagaland undertook a week-long study tour to Vietnam from November 23 to 28 with the primary objective of learning the successful agriculture and allied practices including Agro-Ecotourism in sub-urban and rural areas in Vietnam.

The team visited the urban organic farm in Hanoi and interacted with the farmers regarding the marketing of the products. The team further had a meeting with the Dean and Officials of Da Nang University where they were apprised of the Research and Development activities.

The team experienced first-hand the popular Agro-ecotourism of Tra Que vegetable village and tea estate at Hoi An and observed various management aspects of the enterprises.

It was observed that the size of the farm does not determine the economy of a farm but intensive agriculture with proper scientific management of inputs with diverse crops particularly high-value marketable crops, vegetables, and medicinal plants including herbs integrating aspects of tourism will promote a sustainable enterprise ultimately leading to settled farming.
