The Sümi Hoho has expressed “deep concern and solidarity” with the aggrieved teachers appointed under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) 2016, who have resorted to agitation after years of waiting for their grievances to be addressed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the apex Sumi body said, “It is disheartening to note that teachers, who are entrusted with shaping the future of our society, have been subjected to prolonged uncertainty, financial hardship, and official indifference. This continued neglect not only undermines their dignity and morale but also directly affects the quality of education imparted to our children.”
The Hoho maintained that “justice delayed is justice denied,” adding that the grievances of the RMSA 2016 teachers are “genuine and long overdue for redressal.” It urged the Government of Nagaland to take “immediate and concrete steps to resolve the matter in a just, transparent, and time-bound manner.”
Acknowledging the patience exercised by the teachers, the Sümi Hoho said, “We appreciate the aggrieved teachers for having exercised patience and restraint for so long in the hope that the authorities would address their grievances.
It is our sincere appeal that their genuine concerns be resolved amicably and without further delay, so that the academic welfare of students is not compromised.”
Reiterating its support, the statement declared, “The Sümi Hoho stands with the aggrieved teachers in their rightful demands and strongly reminds the Government that the future of our youth cannot be secured by neglecting those who nurture and educate them.”
