Mokokchung Times (MT): Hello ‘Lambu and Skinny’. Thank you so much for your availability for Mokokchung Times. Please tell us about how you began your careers as entertainers and the journey along.
Lambo & Skinny (LS): It was in the month of February 2019, we created a short video of about 30 seconds for fun. Beyond any of our expectation, the 30 second video went viral. We received immense support from people we knew and the demand for such videos increased. We had no option, but to take advantage of the situation and started our YouTube channel, ‘Lambu and Skinny’ as entertainers.
Beside the local support, we also took inspiration from popular comedians, Key &Peele. The church also played a pivotal role in giving us ampleplatforms from the beginning.
MT: Do you think social media can now give people a career?
LS: Yes, we can definitely make a career out of social media. But we have to work hard since it’s‘No Work, No Pay’kind of job. Above all, in any social media career, being consistent with our contents becomes crucial for growth and success.
MT: What do you think are your greatest achievements?
LS: Some of the things we have achieved so far are overcoming fear, criticism and negative comments. However, the greatest amongst all other achievements, would be the 100k+ subscribers to our YouTube channel. The love and support from our YouTube family is incredible.
MT: How influential do you think social media is in today’s generation?
LS: According to Google, at least 57.6% of the global population use Social Media. It has become a vital element to our everyday lifestyles.Apart from discovering and learning new information, social media has made communication easy beyond borders. In our context today, almost everyone uses social media, from parents to young teens, and even kids. Interestingly, even busy moms and housewives are addicted to social media. Perhaps, it would be best to say, no one escapes from the influences of social media.
MT: Do you ever feel pressured managing your personal and public lifestyles, given that you have public recognition, at least here in MKG?
LS: Yes, to a certain extent. We feel elated when people recognize us in public places. Such recognition makes us feel that our work is progressing and the amount of appreciation drives us to work harder.
MT: What message would you leave for your fans and readers
LS: We would like to start by thanking our supporters. They are the best anyone could ever ask for.
You have supported us, embraced us, and nurtured us through the good and the bad times and never gave up on us. Your support inspires us to be appreciative of our career with humility and reminds us of how blessed we are. No matter how big or small, all of your good deeds and positive vibes sent our way, never go unnoticed. You’re all our motivation; you are what drives us to grind each and every day.
We want to thank all of you again for being the best family possible. No matter how far this life might take us, we will always remain true to ourselves. We will never forget where we came from, and we will never forget those who helped us get to where we are today.
We Love you all
CHANGMAO!
