Nowadays, everything revolves around fast fashion. Fast fashion is simply when companies produce inexpensive clothing quickly to keep up with the ebb and flow of fashion.

However, it has been claimed that fast fashion is unsustainable because it generates tonnes of textile waste and pollutes water bodies due to the existence of microfibers, which are major contributors to climate change. Thrifting is one method among many to lessen the rising demand for these things.

Keeping this in mind, two friends, Lipokmen and Voti, founded ‘LV overhaul’ in September 2020 in order to eliminate the stigma surrounding pre-owned clothes.

‘LV overhaul,’ an online boutique specializing in thrifted and pre-owned clothing, aspires to provide an alternative to fast fashion by handpicking and curating unique products, as well as to nurture the environment by encouraging the reuse of fashion items.

The name ‘LV’ was derived from their initials, L-Lipokmen and V-Voti.

When asked about their business method, the duo stated that each item is handpicked, carefully washed and pressed, and that emphasis is placed on the quality of the images that they use for their marketing.

“We have a lot of loyal clients, not just within Nagaland, but from different cities of India and we are grateful to be acquainted with many people across the country through this platform,” the duo said.

“Team LV is elated to be providing our service as well as reaching out to many audience as much as possible to enhance and promote sustainability in fashion,” they said. “That way, we aim to contribute a little towards saving our environment,” they added.

According to them, LV overhaul thrift online store is a ‘part-time profession’ and hence they are unable to be active all year due to time constraints.

“But whenever we drop any collection, we do give our best, keeping in mind the ongoing trend and satisfaction of our clients,” they said.

Talking about their support system during their 2-year journey, the duo said: “We have each other and that’s our greatest strength. Not forgetting our friends who always motivates and encourages us to do better and keep it going”.

“We are grateful to our friends who models for the store, especially Sentiren and Yangerkumla for always being positive and agreeing with the photoshoots. We are also really grateful to Yanger Aier who has always been assisting us with his photography,” they concluded.

As more people start up shops on Instagram, the market for online thrift stores in India is expanding.

With so many online retailers to pick from, we at Mokokchung Times believe that ‘LV overhaul’ will satisfy the shopaholic in you without harming the earth, and will also not burn a hole in your pocket.
