In view of the forthcoming by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency, the Mokokchung district administration conducted a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) cum coordination meeting with the Longkhum Village Council on March 30, at Longkhum Village.

During the interaction, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, emphasised the significant role of village councils in guiding communities in socio-political matters. He stated that the council, as an authorised institution of the government, has a key responsibility in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of the by-election through awareness and community guidance.
He also said that the election machinery would maintain close coordination with the village council to ensure the smooth, free, and fair conduct of the election process.
Following the awareness programme, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, along with officials, inspected all polling stations in the village.
