Lanunechetla Kichu, an ardent lover of food herself, has found her niche in her ‘Sweet Little Batter’ baking business, which she started in 2020 during the pandemic.
Hailing from Chungtia Village, currently residing in Kichutip ward, Achet is a teacher by profession. However, nothing has stopped her from achieving leaps and bounds of success in her entrepreneurial venture as she creates intricate cakes and fills in large orders of baked foods for weddings, parties and birthdays.
Today, her instagram page, ‘Sweet Little Batter’ is known to many as customers crave for her delicious recipe.
Speaking with Mokokchung Times, a modest Achet recalled that her biggest achievement, so far, was filling in wedding cakes and desserts for about more than one-thousand guests in just forty-eight hours.
“I still cannot believe I was able to pull that off. This may sound absurd but the pandemic really brought out the best in me,” she said.
Responding to a query on how she assesses her food quality, she stressed on how important healthy foods are rather than just the taste, which is why she often bakes only on the day of delivery.
“I am very particular about using fresh and premium ingredients because food need not only be tasty, but healthy too,” she added.
Talking about home baking as a skill, she acknowledged that there are people that consider home bakers as “less skilled baker”in comparison to a “baker in bakery.”
“People do expect stuffs at rates cheaper than the bakery but I believe it’s just going to be a phase. To bake a cake, no matter where we are based at, we need right measurements, healthy ingredients, speed and consistency, creativity in decorating as per the customer’s preference and so on. So, it’s equal effort and equal skill.”
Sharing about her dreams and aspirations, she hoped that a day will come by when she will have her own brand in her self-owned bakery.
Commenting on the contemporary bakers in the town, she expressed her gratitude for being able to occasionally team up with the likes of @senbakes and @velvet_clg on Instagram.
“It has always been fun working with them. In the meantime, we do share and learn a lot from each other.”
Her ‘Blue Cheesecake’ and ‘SLB Mixed Flavored Cupcakes’ is so far the best selling among her recipes.
Guiding through her journey as a baker, the few things that keeps her motivated, according to her, are the willingness to learn new things and keeping her skills trendy and updated.
“I really want to deliver the best I can and keep improving myself because you get back what you deliver in the form of clients.”
