Tabitha Enabling Academy celebrates Annual Thanksgiving Day with special message on inclusivity and care for differently-abled children

Kohima, 30 November (MTNews): The Tabitha Enabling Academy (TEA), Kohima held its annual Thanksgiving Day today with Kudecho Khamo, Advisor for CAWD & Taxes, as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Khamo said the academy for differently-abled and special needs children holds immense personal significance for him. He appealed to society not to view special needs children as a curse or burden but as a divine will of God that everyone is obligated to love and care for. Adding that the benchmark of progressive civilization does not reflect the level of income or facilities enjoyed by them but is measured by how people treat and support individuals with special needs. He said, “Each one of us is created according to the divine plan of God with a purpose.

With proper love and care, individuals with special needs can excel in various ways.”

With the special school that started with 7 students and 3 staff members, he added that it has now grown to accommodate 35 students and employs 15 staff. He further expressed gratitude to Administrators Vekütilu Ngone and Asanuo Thong for their efforts and sacrifices in managing the academy.

He acknowledged the Government of Nagaland led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for giving due attention and support to special needs children while also appreciating the Department of Social Welfare headed by Tosheli Zhimomi, Director, and Diethono Nakhro, Chairperson of the Disability Commission.

Earlier, the program was chaired by Dovine Venuh, blessed by Atunuo Mepfuo, with a welcome address by Vekütilu Ngone, awards and presentation by Asanuo Thong, and benediction by Avinuo Seyie.

It is worth mentioning that the academy is located at Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kitsubozou, an exclusive school emphasizing reciprocal learning, where both normal and special needs children can learn together, live together, love, and laugh together.
