The partnership was formalized during the official visit of Brian Weir, Dean of Students at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, who visited Nagaland from June 17 to 21 to explore opportunities for long-term cooperation between the two institutions and their wider creative communities.

During his visit, Weir engaged with Nagaland’s vibrant music fraternity and visited several key institutions, including TaFMA Headquarters, Music Academy Kohima, Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts, Margaret Shishak School  of Music, and Tetso College. The engagements provided a meaningful platform for dialogue on building stronger connections between music institutions, artists, educators, and cultural stakeholders.

As part of the visit, Weir also visited the Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter at the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH), where he witnessed the impact of music education and community engagement in nurturing young talent and creating opportunities through the arts.

Weir also joined the celebration of World Music Day, experiencing the diverse musical talents and cultural expressions of Nagaland’s artists. The event highlighted the State’s growing creative ecosystem and its commitment to taking music and the arts to wider national and global platforms.

TaFMA stated that this partnership marks an important milestone in strengthening future collaboration between the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Nagaland’s music and cultural institutions, paving the way for innovation, learning, and lasting global connections.
