Mon, 7 November (MTNews): In the bye-election for the 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency in Mon district, a remarkable 96.25 percent voter turnout was recorded, amidst heightened security measures. Voting commenced at 7 AM and concluded at 4 PM in 23 polling stations across five sectors. Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Vyasan R, in a press release, confirmed that the polling was held without any untoward incidents and remained peaceful.
It was a straight contest between Wangpang Konyak of NDPP and Wanglem Konyak of the Congress party to fill the vacancy. The vote counting will take place on Sunday, December 3. To ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Nagaland Police, and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) were deployed for security measures.
