A local taxi bearing registration number NL01T-A0183 was reportedly snatched at gunpoint on July 21, 2025, between Viswema and Kedima village, after being hired from Razhii Point, Kohima by three unidentified individuals.

According to the victim, the suspects approached him for hire, which he agreed to. However, midway through the journey, he was forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint, and the perpetrators fled with the car.

The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) HQ Kohima has strongly condemned the incident, terming it an “alarming act of armed robbery.” In an official statement, ANTA urged law enforcement agencies to “bring the culprits to justice at the earliest.”

Calling it a reflection of a “primitive mode of gun culture,” the association also stressed the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect taxi drivers operating across the region.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and investigation into the incident is currently underway.
