A professional development program for primary school teachers, focusing on Mathematics and Science, was launched on Tuesday at Sangtemla Community Hall, Mokokchung. The initiative was organized by Bharti Airtel Foundation in collaboration with the District Education Department, Mokokchung.

The program was chaired by Alila, Coordinator, EBRC Kobulong. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, graced the occasion as chief guest and officially launched TheTeacherApp. In his address, he said the app will “strengthen and energize schools by engaging teachers, students and parents for school transformation.” He commended Bharti Airtel Foundation for its “visionary approach over the last 25 years in imparting training for teachers and enhancing skills for a more inclusive and effective learning environment.” Verma also assured full support from the district administration to ensure the program’s success in Mokokchung.
Introducing the Bharti Airtel Foundation, Hammed highlighted that the Department of School Education, Nagaland (DSEN), in collaboration with the Foundation’s TheTeacherApp, has launched this program to strengthen teaching in Mathematics and Science. The initiative focuses on pedagogical skills, classroom practices, and engaging learning environments.
TheTeacherApp provides teachers with high-quality, easy-to-use content across various domains including language, leadership, pedagogy, social sciences, co-scholastic areas, and more. The program blends self-paced online courses with interactive webinars, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). Teachers completing the program will be awarded a joint certificate from DSEN and Bharti Airtel Foundation.
In its first phase, the program will cover teachers in Mokokchung district, equipping them with innovative strategies and NEP-aligned methods. The long-term vision is to expand the initiative statewide to ensure consistent teacher empowerment and improved student outcomes.
In her address, District Education Officer Sentinenla urged teachers to register and complete the training, stressing that “despite the many activities in schools, this program is crucial to enhance the learning outcomes of students.”
The vote of thanks was delivered by Diberyendu Deb Roy. Altogether 80 teachers attended the launch program, along with Assistant Commissioner Ajay Moktan, Sr SDEO Mokokchung, AEOs, Assistant District Coordinator Samagra Shiksha, TOTs, and EBRC personnel.
