Team Mokokchung with 15 players along with Talikaba Pongen as Coach cum Manager on Thursday left for the Lt. G Rio Memorial U-19 Boys Inter District Cricket Tournament.
This is the third edition of the tournament and will be played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground from 15 to 22 April. Dimapur district won both of the previous two editions of the tournament. The state U-19 cricket team will be selected from this tournament, informed Talikaba.
Mokokchung is placed in Pool B alongside Chumoukedima, Kohima, Tuensang and Kiphire districts. Ten districts are participating in the tournament which is divided into two pools. Dimapur, Niuland, Wokha, Peren and Zunheboto are drawn in Pool A. Top two teams from each pool will proceed to the semi-finals.
Mokokchung is scheduled to first play Tuensang on 15 April at Sovima Cricket Ground.
Players of Mokokchung include: Imnawapang, Wachapong, Salangdangba, Yimchar Imchen, Sanjay Basfar, Bendangsangba, Amongti, Basant, Toshimanen, Sungjemmongba, Md Nishad Ahmed Lakaria, Olemjung (Captain), Akash Augrahari, Rohit Sah and Hiptor Rahman.
