Team Nagaland has added four more medals to its tally at the ongoing Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship in New Delhi, bringing the total to six medals—one silver and five bronze—across Classic and Free Style Belt Wrestling events.

According to the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) Media Cell, Day 2 of the championship featured the Senior Free Style Belt Wrestling events for both men and women. Representing Team India, Kuvenu Puro secured a silver medal in the 80 kg men’s category, while Venuzo Dawhuo won a bronze in the 100 kg category. Rokuokehie Khawakhrie added another bronze in the 70 kg men’s category, and Lhupra Vero completed the day’s medal count with a bronze in the 60 kg category.

Team India also earned two bronze medals in the Men’s Team Championship for both Alysh Classic and Freestyle categories, which were received by national team coaches Vekhriyi Chuzho and Keneilel Kevin Rote.

In the Classic Style events held on the previous day, Vevokho Ruho won a bronze in the 90 kg men’s category, and Haizuyile secured a bronze in the 65 kg women’s category, both contributing to India’s overall performance and highlighting the impact of Naga athletes on the international stage.

With this, Team Nagaland’s contribution to Team India stands at one silver and five bronze medals so far. The NWA has expressed deep appreciation to the wrestling community and supporters across Nagaland for their encouragement and contributions in achieving this significant milestone in international wrestling.

The team is scheduled to return to Dimapur on May 26, 2025.
